When cow’s milk formula doesn’t work
Many babies do have problems digesting formula that is made from cow’s milk
If your baby is consistently fussy and gassy after eating formula, you might consider switching formulas to see if one is better tolerated by your baby.
Babies experiencing a food intolerance or allergy to cow’s milk formula are reacting to the proteins found in cow’s milk itself, and it can be difficult to find dairy free formulas.
For babies who are having difficulty digesting cow’s milk proteins, many of our moms have had great results with:
Enfamil Nutramigen formula that is hypoallergenic for cow’s milk protein allergy
Holle Organic Formula made from goat’s milk
Please note that lactose free formulas eliminate the natural sugar lactose that is found in milk. These formulas won’t help if your baby is having a reaction to the cow’s milk protein.
Here is a great article that discusses food allergy for babies and more formula options. Some of the brands mentioned might not be available in Canada, but most can be found in stores or ordered on Amazon.
