As a pregnancy focused chiropractor, I see my share of pregnant women. Most come in because of low back pain, pubic bone pain, midback and neck pain.  They have problems getting up from chairs and rolling over in bed.  Chiropractic can make a huge difference in helping pregnant moms move better in their ever changing bodies.

Pregnancy is a time of great change within…and without.  As your baby grows and develops, your body adapts to the changing baby within: your breasts become bigger to prepare for breastfeeding, the curve in your low back increases as your abdomen increases in size, and your head tends to move forwards to keep your head over your feet.  While these physical posture changes do not seem easy, they are necessary to keep you able to move about throughout your pregnancy.

One of the bonuses of pregnancy chiropractic care is that women who have regular adjustments during their pregnancies experience shorter labour times.  On average, first time mothers who were adjusted during their pregnancies achieved 25% shorter labours than women who weren’t under chiropractic care.  Women who had previous children and were under chiropractic care experienced 33% shorter labours than women who weren’t seeing a chiropractor during their pregnancies.
